How do you see a lunar eclipse in the daytime?

Being that we were on the wrong side of the planet for today’s lunar eclipse, we ran it in simulation using a nifty little Mac program called OSXPlanet.

This shot is from the sun (with one heck of a telescope) looking at the Earth. This was as the moon was emerging from behind the Earth.

We had the simulation running on three screens. The Moon from the Earth, The Earth from the Moon and the Earth from the Sun. We then took the opportunity to use a flashlight, a globe and ball to explain eclipses to Michelle.
