Hey boys,
I am having the same issue. Just bought a KW-AVX826 and its seems like the same thing is happening to me as well. I can disable the iphone audio but have to do it everytime i power the unit. With it on My USB doesnt work properly neither does handsfree..
Any fixes for this?

Gang: First let me say that I am peaved beyond belief, at BOTH JVC and Apple. I bought this JVC unit with the Stereo Bluetooth to replace the piece of $^&*%
FM Transmitter that I was using, thinking that Stereo Bluetooth was the Holy Grail of answers. To my shagrin, the Stereo Bluetooth from iPhone to JVC sounds great, until it starts to glitch, skip, stutter, and go out entirely! This has happened many many times, and the only repair was to connect directly via USB cable. So I called Apple…and they said the Stereo Bluetooth on the iPhone is meant JUST for stereo headphones, not car kits. When I asked for a reason why, they said “that’s just the way it is”. Not only were they rude, they are braindead. Next I sent an email to JVC 3 weeks ago, and I have yet to hear from them. I asked about “could it be possible that iPhone 3G-S Stereo Bluetooth is not compatible with the JVC unit? Again…no answer….some customer service. I am at the end my rope here…any suggestions?

Hi guys,

It was really interesting reading all ur posts. Im really considering buying this headunit, but one of the main reasons i will be buying it is for the bluetooth hands free feature, i would just like to know more about the sound quality and any problems experienced, also where the ideal mic position is, i have a 03 civic /symbian phone-if it helps.

That’s a shame.

If that happened to me, I’d try to figure out as much as possible before finally “giving up” and contacting JVC for help.

I’d check the following things – do all the other functions work? (Radio, etc.)

Does the iPhone failure occur on both the front and back USB port? it sounds like you’ve already tested a second iPhone. Does the iPod display screen on the iPhone switch to the mode it would normally go to when connected to an external device?

What about old-fashioned iPods? Do they work?

What happens if you plug in a USB key or HDD with MP3s on it? Does it recognize that? Can it play them?

Does the bluetooth still work? Can you stream music via bluetooth? Does the phone connection read your address book?

I can’t say that answering those questions will or will not ferret out some additional diagnostic info, but it might provide a clue as to what is wrong.

If the unit is still under warranty, I’d contact JVC or perhaps the installer.

I’ve tried everything and the unit will no longer read my iPhone (or anyone else’s)

My JVC was recognizing my IPhone immediately. I use a separate bluetooth device. Then it just quit recognizing the phone. I tried 3 other family Iphones anf the JVC could not play the music..? I guess its back to Best Buy!

Another little thing I discovered, in bluetooth mode, the button that says “back” under the phone button is actually the pause button! Go figure, but hey, at least we have one now!

Good to know. That could be a solution for some people reading this.

For those who may not be in the know, Cydia is an application package distribution system/program for jailbroken iPhones only, so if you haven’t cracked your iPhone, you’re still stuck.

The does hold a glimmer of hope for others because it means, technically, it’s possible to be done and in later iterations, perhaps Apple will continue to enhance the (currently) rudimentary bluetooth support.
