BBC shows like Ashes to Ashes, Torchwood and Robin Hood are now on the iTunes UK store.
That’s a start. Now, all they have to do is get them on the US iTunes store…
…or, I just need a sympathetic person in the UK and I’m all set.
Now, I wonder, why people in the UK would want to buy shows on iTunes when they can use the BBC’s iPlayer to get them free?

iPlayer for Mac doesn’t exist.
Flash streaming repeatedly buffers and is unusable.
The interesting question is why the BBC shows aren’t on iTunes until 8 days after broadcast. Streaming iPlayer makes them available for 7… but why not make them available to buy anyway, you can’t undercut free. Downloads in iPlayer last for 30 days.
With the rental facility, iTunes is crying out to be used as an alternative platform: make BBC shows available for 7 days (or preferably 30) to UK customers for free! This may be what this article is hinting out, though more likely it’s that flash will come to the iPhone or the iPlayer will start streaming h264 like YouTube.

That’s a fascinating article, and I see the Mac sites all picked it up later in the day.
Funny I haven’t actually seen a BBC news or press release specifically mentioning this. (Of course, there wasn’t a BBC press release about the iTunes sales, either, so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.)
