iPhone Gripe

This is the first time I’ve ever used “airplane mode” on my iPhone. Why? Because the hotel we’re staying in is a complete cell phone dead zone. Neither my AT&T nor Irene’s T-Mobile us working.

Why airplane mode? Because the phone is seeking a signal and running the battery down at a staggering rate.

I’ve lost 25% of my battery in half an hour. There’s something wrong with this scenario.

I’ve had battery problems not in dead zones, but on the edge of reception. Must admit not that dramatically though.

“Dead” might have been slightly hyperbolistic, it’s actually a “fringe” area. I don’t have enough signal to browse the web, receive e-mail or even make or receive calls, but it is enough signal to pop “one bar” up every once and a while to taunt me. (Usually just long enough for me to receive indication that I received a voicemail while I was cut off.)

I agree, they need a “wi-fi” only mode.

I did a longer, more rigorous test last night and the phone is loosing battery at a rate of 1% every 1.5 minutes here in the room. I just leave it on the charger.
